Walter Berstler Jr.

January 12, 1944 — March 24, 2020

Walter Floyd Berstler Jr. "Wally" was called home to the Lord on March 24, 2020. He was surrounded by family night and day from the time of his stroke in November until the day of his passing.

Walter F. Berstler Jr. was born on January 12, 1944 to Walter F Berstler Sr. and Mary Eleanor Berstler (nee Diamond).

For over 30 years, Walter and his brother Stephen achieved a very successful car repair business with Ber-Lyn Auto Body in West Chester, Pennsylvania.

Walter found great delight in attending yard sales. He had a keen eye for broken down lawnmowers and bicycles that could be repaired and then donated to someone who would get the most use of it.

Walter loved the beauty of God's creations. He celebrated the Florida sunsets, the delicate frailty of flowers, and praised the smell of fresh cut grass.

Experiencing life to the fullest; Walter was passionate about scuba diving in the Caribbean, skydiving out of hot air balloons, pushing race cars to their limit, tracking game in the Wyoming wilderness, and knocking out opponents in demolition derbies.

Walter took pride in being a father figure to everyone. He genuinely loved to help, he was generous with his time and talents, and could be counted on in times of need.

His smile and penchant for silliness will surely be missed. His marriage to Alice brought out his very best characteristics - his devotion to the Lord, his youthful sense of humor, and love of sharing life with someone.

Walt loved to take care of things. Wally enjoyed being daring. Dad was there to cheer you on and inspire you to be your best. Pop Pop was always ready to ask "where's my hug?"

Walter is survived by his brothers Stephen and Mark, sisters Kathleen and Diane. His children Walter, Carlee, Leya, and Justin and also Rob and Dave Hoover. Wally is survived by his dear friend Olga McGrath.

Dad leaves behind his most cherished treasures - his grandchildren Paige, Brendan, Dylan, Madison, Taylor, Olivia, Turner, Avery, Elise, and Trinity.

The family invites you to make donations in Walter's name to the Willow Tree Hospice, 616 East Cypress Street, Kennett Square, PA 19348 (610) 444-8733 or to Spirit and Truth Ministries PO Box 904 Islamorada, FL 33036.

Memorial service for friends and family to be held in the near future.
