Robert Martino

Robert A. Martino, 76, of Glen Mills, PA passed away on November 30, 2019.

Born in Philadelphia, PA in 1942, he was the son of the late Anthony and Mary (Villa) Martino.

Bob was the dear brother of Raymond R. Martino (Rosemary); dear uncle of Raymond Martino (Cecily Martino), Sue Ann Martino, Denise Martino-Kern (Roland Kern), & Gregory Martino; great uncle of Cameron (Shelby), Tia (Gabe), Nate, Zack, Jeanine (Pete), Courtney (Glen), Morgan, Marissa, Nikola (Jonny), Kylie, Maximus, Roland, Jr. (Lindsey), Ryan (Denyelle), Corey (Bethany), Davey, Ben, Emily, Katie, & Chip; great-great uncle of Nella, Peter, Vienna, Giselle, Skyler, Skylar, Mia, Avery, & Layla.

Lovingly referred to as Candy Man, Bob lived by the belief that it is extremely important no one ever feel alone or forgotten. After a very full life he retired from 30 years with his beloved job at Blue Cross and for 10 years he provided candy to all of the residents and employees of Maris Grove. Every time he was hospitalized he would always have a bowl of candy to show his gratitude and make the nurses and doctors days brighter.

We have all shared in reminiscing with Bob about his many years of creating lifelong friendships while working on the Wildwood Boardwalk. Many a story has been told about his wonderful friendships and memories of his time at Blue Cross.

In retirement, he was the world’s greatest bingo caller! Every holiday he loved to decorate his door & hallway to brighten the path of every passerby and always included a candy bowl--filled to the top of course! Never one to shy from a challenge, he played bacci ball and shuffleboard with his friends at Maris Grove.

A family favorite, Bob created the “crutch” game with nephews and nieces giving them lifelong cherished memories.  He was the “World’s Greatest Spoiler” giving his love & genuine kindness to all - including his great nieces and nephews...and his great-great nieces and nephews.

Above all Bob loved his parents, brother and sister-in-law with his entire heart.  They were part of his soul and he will be with them always.

Bob believed in always being kind and generous with his time. His spirit and love cheered up anyone in need. He lived his life encouraging others to live their lives to the fullest, to always be grateful for their health & to do good deeds. He never met a stranger because he was always the first to say hello, ask how you are, listen with an open heart, and to genuinely care in helping in any way he could.

Relatives and friends are invited to his Viewing 10:00-11:00 AM Thursday, December 5, 2019 and to his Funeral Service 11:00 AM at The Donohue Funeral Home, 1627 West Chester Pike, West Chester, PA 19382, 610-431-9000. Interment SS Peter & Paul Cemetery. Maris Grove is offering a free shuttle service for residents to and from the funeral service.
