Robert “Bob” V. Benedict, age 89, of West Brandywine, PA, formerly of Strafford, PA, passed away on May 24, 2020.

Born in Spokane, WA, and raised in Piedmont, CA, he was the loving son of the late Warren and Trula Benedict (nee Miller).

Bob is survived by his beloved wife of 64-years, Lois H. Benedict (nee Herpy); his four daughters - Susan B. Navia (Manuel), Barbara B. Kent (David), Sandra L.B. Cappiello (Samuel), and Deborah J. Benedict (Jason). He was the caring grandfather of six granddaughters and six grandsons. His first great-grandson was born on February 6, 2020. He was the devoted brother of Nola Radcliffe (Allen), and the late James and Richard Benedict.

Bob earned a degree in engineering from the University of California, Berkeley and a graduate degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Pennsylvania.  Bob spent 39 years working for General Electric Aerospace as a system design engineer in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.  After retiring from GE he spent an additional five years consulting.

Prior to joining General Electric, Bob served in the US Army at Aberdeen Proving Ground, Maryland where he was involved in engineering development testing of complex weapons systems.

Bob was an active member of Wayne Presbyterian Church for over 50 years.  During that time he volunteered as an Elder, a Deacon, a Steward, and an Usher. He also had a long history volunteering for the Boy Scouts of America.  After earning his Eagle Scout rank he was an Assistant Scoutmaster while attending college and mentored Eagle Scout candidates in the Valley Forge area.

Bob and Lois were avid travelers.  In recent years they enjoyed cruising with the extended family.  While at home Bob was an accomplished gardener and photographer.

The family will host a Life Celebration at a later date due to COVID-19.

In lieu of flowers, contributions to Wayne Presbyterian Church, 125 E. Lancaster Ave, Wayne, PA 19087, would be appreciated.
