Paul York

Paul B. York, a proud coalcracker from Nesquehoning, PA passed away on Friday, Sept 3, 2021 at St Martha Villa in Downingtown, PA.

Born on Feb 23, 1928, he was the son of the late Joseph J. and Catherine (Donahue) York. He was married December 27, 1950 to Virginia Casey of Floral Park, NY. They were married for 67 years until her death on January 4, 2018.

He is survived by his son, Paul B. York, Jr. (Linda Cook), a daughter, Maryann Burkley, three grandsons, David, Daniel, & Joseph. Plus a sister, Mary Theresa Lynch of North Carolina.

Paul earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Economics from Villanova in 1950. And served in the Army for several years. He worked as an Insurance Agent and later as a Financial Advisor. His passions were Villanova Basketball, traveling, golf, playing bridge and telling stories of years gone by. Like changing his birth date to a year earlier so he could drive the delivery truck for the family grocery store during WWII. He was a true patriot with a love of God, Country and his family. Everyone was met with a big smile and a “Hey how are you”. He is loved and missed by many.

He will be interned at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery at a later date.
