Patricia K. "Trish" McLaughlin, age 56, of Phoenixville, died on March 25, 2021, after a brief illness.
She is survived by her beloved family, her husband, Thomas Opitz, and sons, Anders Opitz and Tommy Opitz. She is also survived by her mother, Audrey McLaughlin, and siblings, Philip Tribble (Sally), Kevin McLaughlin (Maura), Mercedes McLaughlin (Nahas Lahcene), Susan McLaughlin (John McMahon), and Maureen McLaughlin (Erik Lehtis), as well as numerous nieces and nephews, who all adored “Aunt Trish.” Her father, Dr. Philip E. McLaughlin, died in 1979.
A high school graduate of Kimberton Waldorf School, she received a B.A. in Communications from Temple University.
She was a stellar fundraiser for nonprofits, with a successful career in sales and marketing. More recently, she managed recreational activities for older adults in assisted living. Charming and funny, she had a soft spot for seniors and loved to hear their life stories while entertaining them with her lively and creative trivia sessions. Generous and open of heart and spirit, she knew no strangers and magically made instant friends wherever she went.
Trish loved her family and friends, her dogs, music, cooking, reading, all things Irish, the Philadelphia Eagles, and the beach, especially in Lewes, Delaware. Her loving sons were her greatest joy in life. She was extremely proud of all of their accomplishments and of the fine men that they had become.
Trish was well loved and will be dearly missed.
