Patricia Cosgrove

February 6, 1933 — January 6, 2021

Patricia Ann “Pat” Cosgrove (nee O’Connor), 87, of Broomall, PA passed away peacefully on January 6, 2021 surrounded by her children.

Born in Philadelphia, PA in 1933, Pat was the middle sister of five daughters of the late James and Marie (nee Kummer) O’Connor.  As the last remaining sibling, her devotion to her sisters was a strong constant throughout her life.

She was the beloved wife of Thomas F. Cosgrove, Sr, loving mother of Tricia (Patricia M.), Tom Jr (Christy), and Dan (JoAnn) and devoted grandmother of Ryan, Evan, Bethany, Faith, and Thomas.

Pat was a faith-filled, energetic woman with eclectic interests in singing, travel, home design, sewing, sports, and caretaking.  She brought her gifts and talents to her roles as Mom, Real Estate Agent, Travel Agent, CCD Teacher, Seamstress for Baptisms, Confirmations, Weddings, a Choir Member for 50 years, Little Flower High School Head Cheerleader ( Flossie), Active Sorority for 70 years, self-taught piano player, self-taught computer Word, Email, Excel, avid gardener.  Her 50+ years of hosting Thanksgiving dinners were legendary and will continue to live on as cornerstone for our extended family.

Singing in public since she was a second grader, Pat’s love of singing led to her 80 years in singing with choral groups, at church variety shows, and 50+ years of duets she sang with her husband, Tom, at social events, with their favorite, ‘On the Way to Cape May’. Her organist skills enabled the family sing-alongs to go well into the night.

A creative dressmaker, a skill learned from her mother (out of need), Pat was always generous to offer her talents making special occasion dresses, from baptisms to communions and weddings which proudly bore the label ‘Made by Pat’.

Pat was always ready for adventure and the ABCs of her travels (Africa, Brazil, China…) were just the beginning as she explored the continents as a tour leader and took numerous ‘road trips’ across the USA with family.  As the travel agent for Catholic retreats, she led tours to Israel, Italy, Medjugorje in Bosnia-Herzegovina, Poland, and other European destinations, always with a faith-filled purpose.  Of course, her real love of vacations started with trips to Wildwood, New Jersey shore where she went most every year, many with the extended family (too much fun) for two weeks at a time.

A cheerleader at heart, she wanted to be there for all sports (swimming, football, baseball, basketball, soccer), plays, and choir events for her children, grandchildren, and neighbors children. Special thanks to Mom’s neighbors the Bonfini’s, and Chrissy and Liz Cinaglia for their love and devoted friendship.

Her love for the Philadelphia sports teams was always there but the Phillies and Eagles kept her most engaged.  The Eagles Super Bowl win in February 2018 turned out to be a fantastic 85th birthday event for her and the family.

Pat will be missed as she is singing harmony for the angels now in a new choir.

Relatives and friends are invited to her Visitation, Saturday, June 12, 2021, 9:30 - 10:30 AM at St. Pius X Church, 220 Lawrence Road, Broomall, PA 19008, followed by her Funeral Mass at 10:30 AM.  Interment SS Peter & Paul Cemetery.
