Michael McDonald, 72, of West Chester, PA, Avalon, NJ, and Bonita Springs, FL, passed away July 30, 2020.
Born in Philadelphia, PA, he was the son of the late Francis A. and Mary McDonald (nee Connolly).
Michael was husband, lover, friend, and confidant of Patricia McDonald (nee Peebles); loving father of Michael P. (Stephanie), Shawn, and Brooks (Erin); devoted grandfather of Cody, Meghan, Emily, Greta, Ella, Maevelyn, Grady, Ryan, and Norah; dear brother of Patrick McDonald (RoseMarie). In addition, Michael felt honored to be a part of the extended McDonald family, the Heft’s, the Madison’s, the Magee’s, and the Weidmayer’s.
Michael was a graduate of Villanova University where he made lifelong friends, played guard on the football team, and participated in rugby and track.
After graduation, he taught and coached at Gloucester Catholic High School and Bishop Eustace Preparatory School, his alma mater. Although a teacher and a coach at heart, he spent many years of his career working in Sales and Marketing for telecommunications companies, but in 2000, he returned to his first love (after Patti), teaching at St. Ann School, Wilmington, DE, retiring in 2010.
He was an avid salt water fisherman and was recently thrilled to become a member of the Avalon Fishing Pier after years on the waiting list. He was an artist, a fan of Irish music, sports radio, Ray Didinger, and of course, the Eagles, the Phillies, and the 76ers (sometimes).
Family and friends are invited to his Visitation 10:30-11:30 AM, Saturday, August 8, 2020 at SS Simon & Jude Church, 8 Cavanaugh Ct., West Chester, PA, followed by his Funeral Mass at 11:30 AM. Interment Calvary Cemetery.
