Matthew Carroll

March 9, 1957 — July 3, 2020

Matthew J. “Matt” Carroll, 63, of Havertown, PA, passed away on Friday, July 3, 2020, after a long and trying battle with COVID-19.

Born March 9, 1957 in Philadelphia, PA, Matt was the son of the late Charles and Mary (nee Elliott) Carroll.

Matt grew up in Overbrook, and attended St. Thomas More High School, and spent the later years of his life in Havertown, PA.  Matt owned his own business as a carburetor repair man, and moved on to be a packaging mechanic at Catalent Pharma.

Matt loved life and lived to the fullest.  He enjoyed bowling in the St. Callistus Bowling League for many years.  He was always up for an adventure to explore a new place, or to take his family for a drive.  He loved to walk the neighborhood and talk with friends, or help neighbors with projects.  He always had a tool for everything and was happy to help. You could also find him in the basement working on stained glass projects that he would make for friends and family.

His love for Philly Sports ran deep.  His Eagles Jacket/Vest that had been repaired and transformed so many times over the years never left his closet, it could always be fixed.  He loved to spend time with his family and attend BBQs.  He was always up for a game of horseshoes, cornhole, or a swim in the pool.  Matt also found joy in the Holidays. He always had Halloween decorations and passed out candy to the neighborhood kids. Christmas time he hung up all of the lights outside, complete with Snoopy on the roof, and had the Eggnog ready while he decorated the tree and watched his favorite Christmas movies with his wife.  All of this made him who he was, and were the best times for him.

Matt Is survived by his wife Robin, daughter Robin, and son-in law, Jay. He was brother to 9 sisters and 4 brothers; and is predeceased by 2 sisters and 1 brother.  He is also survived by many brother’s and sister’s- in- law, nieces and nephews.

Services will be held at a later date.
