Mary Ellen Devlin

Mary Ellen “Nell” Devlin (nee Doyle), age 81, of Havertown, PA, passed away on April 23, 2021. Born in Havertown, PA, she was the daughter of the late Francis and Margaret Doyle (nee Jacobs).

Mary was the beloved wife of the late Harold J. “Bud” Devlin; loving mother of Penny Doran (Joe), Lori Swope (Charley), Michael Devlin (Liz), and Coleen Cincotta (Jim); adoring grandmother (“Mom Mom”) of 10 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.  She was predeceased by her brothers Fran, Jimmy, and Tom Doyle.

Mary loved her family unconditionally and always put them first in all she did.  She took pride in raising her family in her childhood home on Upland Road in Havertown. Christmastime was always a special time to Mary, filled with many traditions that she passed down to her children and grandchildren. Mary held various jobs throughout her life but was last employed as a Medical Billing Specialist for Bryn Mawr Medical Associates.

Mary loved her time at their beach house in Ocean City, NJ and date nights at The Crab Trap in Somers Point, NJ.  She was a die-hard Phillies fan, and loved gardening. She had an avid sweet tooth, enjoyed baking and trying out new recipes to share with her children as Bud was a meat and potatoes guy!  She had a strong devotion to her faith and the saints, especially her beloved St. Theresa and was a dedicated parishioner of Sacred Heart.  She also had a great love of her Irish heritage and enjoyed visiting Ireland.

Relatives and friends are invited to her viewing Thursday, April 29, 2021, 6:00-8:00 PM at The Donohue Funeral Home, 3300 West Chester Pike, Newtown Square, PA (610) 353-6300 and to her Funeral Mass Friday, April 30, 2021 10:30 AM at Sacred Heart Church, 105 Wilson Avenue, Havertown, PA.

Masks are to be worn when visiting the family, to the Funeral Mass and Cemetery.  Social Distancing is to be observed.
