Mary Koehler

August 6, 1939 — November 12, 2020

Mary Anita Koehler, 81, of Malvern, PA, passed away November 12, 2020.  Born August 6, 1939 in Philadelphia, PA, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Anna (nee Dunne) Kelly.

Mary had many interests. First and foremost, she was proud of her Irish heritage and consumed many books on Irish history. Mary also loved to read fiction and especially loved solving crossword puzzles. In fact, you could always find her with a crossword puzzle book wherever she went in case the conversation got boring. She turned her hand to various artistic endeavors over the years, including writing a 1,000 page draft of an Irish-American generational saga, sewing clothes, baking bread (before it was a popular pastime), and other crafts. Mary was also a connoisseur of teas – she was a regular at the Simpson House Tea Room and some of the other tea houses around the area. Finally, she begrudgingly became an Eagles and Penn State football fan after she was subjected to watching the games with her husband and son.

Mary worked for Northwest Airlines in Philadelphia when she was young, through which she had the opportunity to travel and see the world. After settling down in West Bradford to raise kids, she worked on the staff at Dr. Trievel Family Medicine of Lionville, PA until her retirement.

She was the loving mother of Karen A. Koehler (James Cresmer), Sheila K. Koehler (Brett Aukburg), and Thomas C. Koehler (Eliza) and grandmother of Alexandra, Amelia, and Ian.  She was also sister to Edward Kelly (Carol) and Michael Kelly (Linda). She was predeceased by her husband Arthur T. Koehler, her son, Casey E. Koehler, and brother, Thomas Kelly.
