Kathleen "Kate" Dixon

September 21, 1940 — April 21, 2020

Rose Kathleen (“Kate”) Dixon, age 79, of Springfield, PA, formerly of Havertown, PA passed away on April 21, 2020. She was the beloved wife of James Dixon; loving mother of Kerri Lynn; daughter of the late John and Margaret Cassidy (nee McCrossan); and caring sister of the late John Cassidy and Marguerite McGoldrick. Kathleen is also survived by nieces, nephews and friends.

Kathleen attended St. Denis School and graduated in 1958 from Notre Dame High School in Moylan, PA. She lived most of her life in Springfield, Delaware County, where she was an active member of the Holy Cross community for almost 50 years as a lunchroom mom, activities chaperone, Brownie and Girl Scout troop leader, member of the Women’s Club, pre-K aide, and the school librarian.

Kathleen loved dancing, Irish music, shopping with her niece and daughter, and going to dinner with her friends. She was a big country music fan, and spent many happy times with her daughter at country concerts, seeing her favorites like Dolly Parton, George Strait, Vince Gill, Alan Jackson, Martina McBride and Keith Urban.

Kathleen had a sweet, gentle and loving soul, combined with a feisty spirit and a sharp sense of humor. Her hearty, wonderful laugh always brought a smile to those around her. She was deeply loved by her family here and across the ocean, by her many friends, and also by her daughter’s friends since childhood. And in her final years, she became a favorite of the nurses and aides on the 8th floor at Fair Acres. But most importantly, Kathleen was a loving and devoted wife of 53 years to Jim and an amazing mommy and best friend to Kerri Lynn. She was the light of their lives and they will miss her profoundly.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Friends of Fair Acres, Attn: Treasurer, 340 N. Middletown Road, Lima PA 19037.

Services and Interment are private for family only. A Celebration of Life Mass will be held at a later time.
