Judith Amadio

November 2, 1928 — September 13, 2021

Judith Marie Amadio née Caricchio, 92 of West Chester, PA. A beloved mother and nana, she peacefully passed away on Monday, September 13, 2021. Born November 2, 1928 in Upper Darby, PA, she was the daughter of the late John Caricchio and the late Catherine Caricchio. She was the wife of the late Dr. Julio Amadio who died January 4, 2005.

Judith attended Upper Darby High School and graduated from Immaculata University with a B.A. in English. After graduation, Judith worked as a first-grade elementary school teacher. Later she assumed the management of her husband’s busy cardiology practice in Bryn Mawr, PA and oversaw it for over 30 years.

Judith is survived by her two daughters, Julia Amadio and Carol Heller (Thomas), her two grandchildren, Katherine Heller (Robert Johnson) and Emily Liegel (Samuel), and her great-grandson Thomas Liegel. Judith’s third and oldest daughter, also named Judith, passed away as a young child. In addition, she is predeceased by her family’s treasured golden retrievers, Tender and Caesar. Besides her immediate family, Judith leaves behind numerous loving extended family and friends.

Family was Judith’s passion and delight. She grew up with the Italian tradition of big Sunday afternoon dinners, which she carried on into her 90s. When she was in her 80s, she arranged a family trip to Italy to show her granddaughters her favorite places and her family’s history.

In lieu of flowers, the family prefers donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Judith’s honor: https://www.stjude.org/give/memorials-and-dedications.html or the American Heart Association: https://www.heart.org/?form=legacy .
