Joyce M. Wilhelm ( née Rushalk), 82 of Downingtown PA, passed away peacefully in her sleep at home on September 7, 2020. Born in 1938 in Freeland, she is the daughter of the late John and Margaret (Corotitus) Rushalk and wife of 45 years to James P. Wilhelm. She graduated from Freeland High School in 1956.
Joyce worked at Split Rock Lodge following high school, then moved to Upper Darby where she worked for Bell Telephone and eventually worked for over 25 years as an executive assistant to the Vice President of Marketing for Bell Atlantic in Philadelphia. After retirement, Joyce lived in Downingtown and enjoyed going on cruises, traveling to Florida, visiting family and friends and going to casinos.
She was the “hostess with the mostess”, hosting family and friends at her home and was a very generous and giving person. As a 30 year cancer survivor, she volunteered each year at the Relay for Life in Downingtown.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by brother Robert Rushalk, sister Darlene Fucille, step children James Wilhelm and Mary Gieder, 4 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren, nieces and cousins. She is pre-deceased in death by her sister Joan Rushalk Koch and brother John Rushalk, Jr.
The family will celebrate Joyce’s life with a Catholic funeral service at The Donohue Funeral Home, 43 W. Lancaster Avenue, Downingtown, PA 19335 on September 11, 2020 at 3 P.M. A Catholic burial service will be at Laurelwood Cemetery in Stroudsburg, PA on September 12 at 11:30 A.M.
