Joseph Murray

Joseph E. Murray, age 92, of Drexel Hill, PA, passed away on April 28, 2021.  Born in Ocean City, NJ, he was the son of the late Joseph M. and Mary C. Murray (nee Orcutt).

Joseph was a loving, caring, humorous, inventive person. He enjoyed going to the beach with his wife, Shirley, swimming in the ocean, fishing, playing horseshoes and vacations.  He loved Ocean City, the Avalon Campground, his Eldon Avenue neighborhood, Penn State Football games and the Philadelphia Eagles.   His favorite things in life were his family, grandchildren, his buddy, Jackson, helping people in need and his “Joeisms”.

Joseph was a Police Officer with the Upper Darby Police Department for 33 years from 1956-1989.   He worked for PAL to support local communities.   After retirement, Joseph enjoyed meeting international crews while working for a Shipping Company.

Joseph was predeceased by his beloved wife Joan S. Murray (nee Farber) and his sons, Joseph E. Murray, Jr. and John Murray.  He is survived by his loving children William B. Murray and Beth A. Puleio (Vincent), his daughter-in-law, Michelle Murray, his grandchildren Hannah, Anthony, Vincent and his great-grandchild Zoey.  Brother of the late Daniel Murray (Wilma) and the late Rosemary Jones (the late Bud).  Also survived by his nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit the family Wednesday, May 5, 2021  7:00-9:00 PM and Thursday, May 6, 2021 9:00-9:45 AM at The Donohue Funeral Home, 8401 West Chester Pike (cor. Lynn Blvd.), Upper Darby, PA (610) 449-0300 and to his Funeral Mass 10:30 AM at St. Andrew the Apostle Church, 3500 School Lane, Drexel Hill, PA.   Interment SS Peter and Paul Cemetery, Springfield, PA.

Masks are to be worn when visiting the family, to the Funeral Mass and the Cemetery.   Social distancing is to be observed.
