John Hummel

March 5, 1946 — August 31, 2019

John R. (“Bob”) Hummel, age 73, of Upper Darby, PA, passed away on August 31, 2019.  Born in Philadelphia, PA, he was the son of the late Ralph and Margaret Hummel (nee Otterson).

John was a graduate of Overbrook High School in Philadelphia.  He was a veteran of the United States Marines Corps.  He had been employed as a Postal Carrier for the United States Postal Service for 35 years.  After retirement, he opened his own business, Hummel Contracting.  He enjoyed country music.

John is survived by his daughter Robin Jean Rauch (Brian), his son, Jay Hummel, and his grandchildren Natalie and Amelia Rauch.  He was the brother of  Joyce Cariola and the late Ralph Hummel, Jr.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit the family Friday, September 6, 2019 from 6:00-7:30 PM and to his Funeral Service at 7:30 PM at The Donohue Funeral Home, 8401 West Chester Pike (Cor. Lynn Blvd.), Upper Darby, PA (610) 449-0300.   Interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory to the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation, 230 E. Ohio Street, Suite 500, Chicago, IL 60611 would be appreciated.
