Joan H. Cherry age 76 of Drexel Hill formerly of Philadelphia passed away on October 21.
Daughter of the late Robert Fenton Hibbs and Marion Fraser Hibbs (nee Harter), she was pre-deceased by her caring husband Marvin R. Cherry.
Joan is survived by her loving children Robert R. (Krista), Daniel E. (Amy) and Debra J. Pindell (Timothy) and was a devoted grandmother to Meghan and Kristen.
A registered nurse, she served Lankenau Hospital, Leader Nursing Home, Upper Darby School District and William Penn School District. Joan was a dedicated server at the Reach Serve Care monthly lunches, as well as a member of the Administrative Council and Staff Parish Relations committee of Drexel Hill United Methodist.
She enjoyed cooking for family and sharing her musical talents as a member of the church choirs and participant in church youth musicals. Joan was a very supportive band parent for Upper Darby High School and Penn Wood High School. She also spent much of her time in service as a Girl Scout Troop Leader.
Joan was strong, giving, loving and a consistently caring individual who was very active and devoted to her children, grandchildren and grand dogs.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit family Wednesday from 10-11 am at Drexel Hill United Methodist Church, 600 Burmont Rd, Drexel Hill followed by her Funeral Service at 11 am. All are invited to remain or return to the church for a luncheon reception to be held at the church at approximately 1 pm following a private internment.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to Drexel Hill United Methodist Church, 600 Burmont Rd, Drexel Hill, PA 19026.
