George Pickering, Jr,

George Pickering, Jr., 78, of Coatesville, PA, passed away March 3, 2021.

Born December 14, 1942 in Camden, NJ, he was a son of the late George, Sr., and Gertrude (nee Davies) Pickering.

In his youth, George was a national rowing champion, state wrestling champion as well as a gymnast and semi pro football player.  He was a truck driver in the earlier years of his life and loved riding his motorcycles. In his later years he devoted his life to God and traveled the world. Most recently George was a church Pastor, substitute teacher, and a lifeguard and swimming instructor at the YMCA. He loved to sing and loved music, especially Frank Sinatra. George played the harmonica, bugle, guitar and piano.

He was the loving father of Audrey K. Pickering and Jennifer Diaz-Pellot (Rafael); adoring grandfather of Jazmin C. Pickering, Sidney G. Albrecht, Landry Albrecht, Luke Albrecht, Noah Albrecht, and Veronica R. Diaz-Pellot, caring great-grandfather of Gabriel A. Clemente; dear uncle of Nora Thompson (James), and great-uncle of Ross, Justine, Lynn, Nora, and Jimmy. He was predeceased by his sister, Nora Pickering, and his nephew, Ross Sheer. George was a father figure to some and a great friend to many.

Services are private.
