Emilie Jean-Louis

December 22, 1959 — October 16, 2020

Emilie Jean-Louis was born in Grand Gosier, Haiti, on December 22nd, 1959, to Emline (Mendes) Jean-Louis and Firmin Oswald Jean-Louis. She attended primary and elementary school at Ecole Nationale Evelina Levy in Jacmel; in junior high, she attended College Fernand Prosper, and completed high school at Saint Francois D’Assise in Port-au-Prince, Haiti. She completed three years of Nursing Studies at the Université d’Etat d’Haiti, before migrating to the United States in 1983 to reunite with her mother and other siblings.

After a short stay in Brooklyn, NY, she moved to Stamford, CT, where she married Jacob Samuel Beauvais on December 21, 1985. Out of the marriage she gave birth to 4 boys and 2 girls; Samuel Beauvais, Jonathan Beauvais, Joel Beauvais, Thimothee Beauvais (deceased), Emmeline Beauvais, and Samantha (Beauvais) Jackson.

She was one of many siblings, Claude (Andral) Alcide, Eric (Rico) Jean-Louis,  Freda (Jean-Louis) Charles, Lourdes (Jean-Louis) Laurent, Smith (Jean-Louis) Laroche, Aly Jean-Louis, Firmin Harry Jean-Louis, Micheline Jean-Louis, Bruyère Jean-Louis (deceased), Yolette Jean-Louis, Renald Jean-Louis (deceased), Rose Hermite Jean-Louis, Hogarth Jeudy, Soeurette Blain (Sobeida), Teresa Romero de Oscar (deceased), Renette Jean-Louis, and Alina Michel.

She received Christ as her Lord and Savior at the young age of seventeen, at Eglise de Dieu Rue du Centre, where she began to serve in different capacities with the Boy Scouts (Louveteaux), The Christophile Mass Choir, and the Vermase Foundation. Upon migrating to the US, she continued to be active as a fervent worker in the Church of God community, and served in countless other church affiliations, including her final Church home, First Haitian Church of God in Philadelphia PA. She enjoyed spending time with her family, brothers, sisters, her own children, Grandchildren and even a great-grandchild. She loved all children but had an affinity for Special Needs children. She worked as a Special Education Teacher’s assistant as well as Disciplinarian for Toquam Elementary School. She also worked as an Interpreter for the Stamford Board of Education.

In spite of the stress of living every single day of the past thirteen years with physical pains, and the sequels of a congestive heart failure diagnosed in the year 2007, Emilie, ‘Fanm Vanyan”, managed to complete the MIP program at the Church of God International, School of Ministry. At the worst of her being ill with diabetes and other complications, she graduated three years ago, in May 2017, with a Bachelor’s Degree in Liberal Arts, and a Minor in Special Education from Saint Joseph University, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

Emilie passed away on October 16, 2020 at Lankenau Medical Center. She is remembered by her children, her siblings, three surviving aunts, countless cousins, several nieces and nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews, her grandchildren; Ariana Beauvais, Timothy Clinton, Adrian Harris, Emilie Clinton, Austen Beauvais, and Beau Hickmond, and a great grand-daughter, Royalty Beauvais.

May her soul Rest In Peace in the bosom of Jesus Christ, her Lord and Savior!
