Elizabeth "Betsy" Frayne

Elizabeth "Betsy" Manidis Frayne, 67, of West Chester, PA, passed away peacefully on November 15, 2021, surrounded by her loving family. Born on July 2, 1954, in Philadelphia, PA, and raised in Havertown, PA, she attended Annunciation Elementary School and graduated from Archbishop Prendergast High School in 1973. The daughter of the late John Andrew and Kathleen Cecelia (nee Hegar) Manidis, Betsy was the seventh of nine children. Growing up in a large family suited her as she loved them all tremendously. Betsy and her sister Tina offered free dance lessons to their brother Andrew in preparation for his weekly Saturday night high school dances at Monsignor Bonner. Andrew's dancing improved with time, and he eventually began showing his sisters his own dance moves. These lessons often ended in eruptions of laughter. Betsy had a mother's heart from a young age. She was an amazing aunt who doted on her nieces and nephews and could often be found polishing their nails or playing them music on her record player. Betsy was a single mother who raised her four children while working full-time and maintaining a home. Although it was not always easy, she managed to show her love to her family in countless ways. She especially enjoyed cooking for family and friends alike. Some of her specialties included chicken Cordon Bleu, beef Stroganoff, meatballs, and spaghetti alla Carbonara. It didn't have to be Thanksgiving for her to make a 20+ pound turkey. She showed her love by feeding people delicious homemade food. She was known never to turn anyone away. She was a wonderful friend who would feed you, hug you, or just sit there and listen. She was a second mom to many; if you were a friend of her children, she loved you as her own. She had a way of making everyone feel welcomed. She absolutely adored her grandchildren, and they adored her. Time spent with them was the best time. Something as simple as sitting and reading books with her grandchildren brought them all great joy. She was preceded in death by her parents John and Kathleen, her brother John and her sister Judy. She will be lovingly remembered and missed by all: her four children Lori Marie Gillespie (Tommy), Patrick Daniel, Stephen Michael, and Philip John (Jessica Eberl); her grandchildren Tommy and Greyson Gillespie; her siblings Kathleen, Christina, Mary, Andrew, Joseph, and Paul; and her Aunt Sheila Hegar, along with many nieces and nephews and many great-nieces and nephews.

Visitation followed by a funeral mass will take place on Friday, December 10, 2021, at 10:30 A.M. at Saints Simon and Jude Church, 8 Cavanaugh Court, West Chester, PA 19382. Interment is Private.
