Elizabeth A. Thomas (née Holloway), age 93, of Broomall, PA, formerly of Virginia Beach, VA, passed away peacefully on July 13, 2021.
Born in 1927, she was the daughter of the late George R., Sr. and Annie (née Taylor) Holloway.
She was raised in Chincoteague, VA, a hard-working fishing community, known for the story of Misty.
Elizabeth was a graduate of Chincoteague High, Class of 1944. In her early years she was employed, as a pharmacy Clerk at Peoples Drug, a retail drugstore in Virginia.
She met and married Charles Thomas, a career Navy man. Together they shared many travels from Maryland and Florida to Newfoundland, which she loved for the amount of snow there.
Upon her husband’s retirement, they settled in Virginia Beach, VA.
Elizabeth was a devoted wife and mother with a great love for her family and could share stories about her childhood and her family for hours.
She and Charles had great joy seeing their son, Bob graduate and marry his wife, Ann (née Squier) at West Point. Thus began their travels to Europe to visit Bob and his wife stationed in Germany. She enjoyed seeing Paris, the Mona Lisa and the windmills of Kinderdijk Holland.
Other trips included visiting their son and family in Marple, PA, where she quickly became known as "MomMom" to the neighborhood kids. To this day some of them remember her baking. Her favorite time to visit was during the Holidays, especially Christmas, when she brought presents.
She was especially excited to attend her grandson Charles’ wedding to Rachel Wolfson, then seeing and visiting with her great-grandchildren Aaron, Brendon and Julia.
Her home was always open to visitors where they enjoyed her famous fried chicken. She would love to sit out in the sun for hours and was truly a people person.
Elizabeth was the beloved wife of the late Charles W. Thomas; the loving mother of Robert G. Thomas (Ann); the devoted grandmother of Charles Thomas (Rachel) and cherished great-grandmother of Aaron Thomas, Brendon Thomas and Julia Thomas. She was the dear friend of Jackie Robinson of Ocean Isle Beach, NC. She was predeceased by her brother, George R. Holloway, Jr.
