Elizabeth Moore-Simpson

August 29, 1948 — July 23, 2021

Elizabeth Moore-Simpson, 72, of Upper Darby, passed away on July 23, 2021, with her children by her side.

Elizabeth (Libby or Liz), was born to Percy Jackson and Marian Cannon on August 29, 1948, in Chester, PA. Elizabeth is one of seven children: Ernest Ricketts, the late Betty Ricketts, Annette Burton, the late James Shavers, the late Percy Jackson, and the late Ishmael Jackson.

Elizabeth is a Widener University Alumni who majored in education. Elizabeth was an accomplished English teacher who taught for over 40 years in both private in public schools. She educated students in middle school, high-school, and in college. Teaching was not just her profession; it was her purpose. After decades of being and educator, Elizabeth retired from teaching in the Philadelphia School District, and found herself being a teacher to her grandchildren while at home during the pandemic.

Elizabeth was a woman of faith who placed God above all else. She was a kind person, extremely intelligent, generous, and would extend herself to help those in need.  She also had a keen eye for style and a smile that could light up a room.  Elizabeth was an inspiration to those who knew her and she always left a positive impact on the people that she met. She truly was a Phenomenal Woman.

Elizabeth enjoyed traveling, attending concerts, reading, spending time with her family, and going to the beach to be near the water (even though she couldn't swim). Elizabeth also enjoyed spending time with her close circle of friends.

Elizabeth was predeceased by her son, Garry Moore Jr. in 2019, and is survived by her four children: Karen Jackson, Kenneth Jackson (Felicia), Alesia Simms, and Chennelle Echevarria (Jose). She is also survived by ten grandchildren, many great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren.

Relatives and friends are invited to her viewing Friday, July 30, 2021 9:00-10:00 AM at The Donohue Funeral Home, 8401 West Chester Pike (cor.
