Albert Tegler Jr.

Tegler, Albert W. Jr age 77 of West Chester, PA, and Ocean City, NJ, passed away suddenly on January 8, 2020. Al was a man who gave so much love and cherished every moment of life with his family and friends. A 1960 Graduate of St. Joseph’s Prep and a 1964 Graduate of St. Joseph’s University. He was the President/CEO of Tegler Benefits Group and a Knight of the Holy Sepulchre, member of the Union League of Philadelphia, Applebrook Golf Club, Penn Oaks Golf Club, and Legatus. He also served on the board of the Holy Family College, Malvern Retreat House, active in the Catholic Leadership Institute, Trustee for Our Mother of Sorrows/St. Ignatious Independent Schools and was past President of Saint Joseph’s University Alumni Association.  Past recipient of the St. Joseph’s University Hogan Award in 2004 and the Laymen’s Retreat League Distinguished Achievement Award in 2018 at Malvern Retreat House.

Son of the late Louise (Nee Sharkey) and Albert W. Tegler Sr. and brother of the late John J. Tegler. Survived by his beloved wife Janet (Nee Bruder), loving father of Albert W. Tegler Jr. “AJ” (Pamela), Mary Theresa Stinger “Terri” (Harry), James T. Tegler (Lynn), Thomas M. Tegler (Colleen), Janet Meredith Datz (Chris), and Ehrin Louise Lapella (Daniel). Devoted PopPop to Caitlyn, Lindsey, Brittney, Taiylor Tegler, Samantha, Harry IV, Stephanie, Sydney, Nicholas, and Jake Stinger, James Jr, Matthew, and Ryan Tegler, Alison, Riley, Devin, and Tommy Jr. Tegler, Christopher Jr., Alex and Chloe Datz, Marley and Danny Jr. Lapella; dear brother of Louise “Sug” Tegler, Michael Tegler (Marie), Judy Corr (the late Michael), Meg Hardesty (Chris).

Relatives and friends are invited to his visitation Monday evening, 5:00-8:00 PM and Tuesday morning 10:30 AM-12:00 PM at SS. Simon and Jude Parish, 8 Cavanaugh Ct, West Chester, PA followed by a funeral mass at 12:00 PM. Int. SS. Peter and Paul cemetery In lieu of flowers, donations in Al’s memory may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, and to the St. Jude Children’s hospital.
