William "Bill" M. Scheffey, age 89 of White Horse Village, Newtown Square formerly of West Chester and Pottstown passed away January 25, 2022.
Born in 1932, he was the son of the late Richard and Caroline "Lena" (née Appel) Scheffey.
He is survived by his wife Virginia (née Wolf) Scheffey, with whom he shared 53 years of marriage; his sister, Elizabeth and brother, John. He was predeceased by brother Richard and sister Margaret,
Bill was a U.S. Army and U.S. Peace Corp Veteran. He taught geography and social studies at six different colleges as far away as Niger Province, Northern Nigeria and at two secondary schools, 30 years of those at Haverford High School.
An avid collector of books, manuscripts, artifacts, and other curios of historic interest, he distributed his collections to auctions and many historical and genealogical societies, archives, heritage centers, and museums during his retirement.
Bill's wish was to donate his body to Humanity Gifts Registry in hopes of expanding knowledge and depth of understanding surrounding medical education.
