William Munley passed away peacefully in his home in Newtown Square, PA, on September 14, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of laughter, learning, and love.
Bill's journey began in Scranton, where he and his late brother Ed were born and raised. Shaped by a Jesuit education, he carried the values of intellectual curiosity, generosity, and compassion throughout his life. He attended the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine, where he laid the foundation for a distinguished career in dentistry. At his dental practice in Broomall, Bill took immense joy in forging lasting relationships with his patients, office staff, and colleagues.
Family was the cornerstone of Bill’s world. For 42 years, he shared a beautiful life with his late wife, Nancy Rohan Munley. He was a loving father and Papa to Maura Munley and spouse Jerry Simrell of Broomall, PA, and their children Ella and Adam, Mark Munley and partner Monica Cornejo of Northridge, CA, and his children Asher and Rowan, and Sean Munley and spouse Vanessa of Carson, CA, and their children Athena and Genesis. Bill's love extended to his sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, and many cousins, whom he cherished dearly. A special mention goes to Loretta, Nancy’s sister, whose unwavering care during his illness exemplified the deep bonds of family that Bill treasured.
One of Bill's greatest gifts was his ability to develop and maintain deep friendships, with several of these bonds dating back to kindergarten. He loved these friends like brothers, and their families became his family. Bill's legendary sense of humor was a defining trait. He had a unique talent for telling embarrassing stories about himself, purely for the joy of making others laugh. He delighted in the companionship and playfulness of the many dogs who shared his home throughout his life. In his later years, golf became a passion for Bill, often combined with his love of travel.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that you share your memories of Bill. Whether it’s a written anecdote, a video message, or a photograph, these tributes will be collected to create a lasting memorial of him and Nancy. Please send these to MunleyMemories@gmail.com.
