William F. McFalls, Sr.

William F. McFalls, Sr. also known as Bill, was a loving Husband, Father, Pop-Pop, Brother, Uncle and Friend. Bill was the loving husband of Alyce Mary (Winters) and the father of five children, Bill Jr. (Joanna), Tommy (Cathy), Barbara McCarron (Tom), Ed (Leigh) and Stephen (Theresa) and the Pop-Pop of 12 grandchildren, Lian, Brenna (deceased), Loren, Meghan, Thomas, Alyssa, Matthew, Kelli, Shannon, Maura, Fiona and Cora. Bill was the brother of John McFalls and Catherine (Cass) Hunt. He was predeceased by his mother Gertrude McFalls and his father, John McFalls and his sister G. Patricia (Patsy) Smith . He leaves behind many nieces and nephews and grand-nieces and grand-nephews, whom he loved dearly.

Bill started his life amongst humble surroundings, being raised along with his three siblings, by a single mom. Even though they encountered many obstacles in their young lives, they were all able to overcome them and to go on to achieve many wonderful things in their lives.

Bill grew up in Southwest Philadelphia where he met the love of his life, Alyce Winters at a local dance. They got married on May 25, 1957 and were joined in holy matrimony for 69 years! After living in Southwest Philadelphia, they moved to Yeadon and lived there for 19 years where they enjoyed so many good times with neighbors in the community and many a summer day at the Yeadon Swim Club. They next moved to Springfield, Delaware County for approximately 11 years and eventually out to West Chester where they remained for the next 39 years of their life together.

Bill was a graduate of Bartram High School, where he excelled on the Football team along with Bo Roberson. Bo eventually went on to play Pro. Bill, alas, did not! He was a proud graduate of Villanova University for whom he rooted consistently for their sports teams, especially Basketball.

Bill had a steadfast group of friends from his high school years that remained strong throughout he and Alyce’s married life. They were known to many as “The Sorority”. They spent vacations together with their families every summer at the beach and weekends up in the Poconos. Boy, did they have some fun and crazy times together!

Bill’s working career began first at Westinghouse. He left there and went to Boeing where one of his jobs was to sell Chinook helicopters to the Spanish Army. He was their International Sales Manager for a number of years. Next on Bill’s career agenda was working for The Xerox Corporation. He was a sales manager there. Bill was affectionately known at Xerox as “The Senator”. When they would be on the various President’s Club trips that they had earned through sales, his colleagues were able to secure some great seats at restaurants and bars when they referenced “The Senator” to the Maitre D! Bill was a respected business colleague as represented by the many awards and success stories that he received.

Bill’s favorite activities were playing a round of golf whenever he could and especially with his sons and grandchildren, playing bingo with Alyce, watching the Eagles and Phillies play, going to the beach and most especially just sharing a meal and hanging with his family.

Bill also loved his many fishing adventures with his older brother John from when they were small to recently. One of their most famous escapades was down in Florida when they went out fishing in John’s inflatable kayak. They had caught some fish for dinner and were heading back to shore. Lo and behold, a shark discovered the fish which were tied to the kayak in the back and promptly decided to eat it for its dinner. Bill tried to fend off the shark with his paddle. By the time they got safely to shore, there was only a quarter of the fish left, but at least Bill and John were whole! What had started out as a small shark in the retelling of the story, the shark grew to about 8 feet long!

Bill was a faith filled man and passed that faith on to his children and grandchildren. He also firmly believed that if you borrowed something, you best bring it back! (I think he had a list!)

Bill was a wonderful person to be around. He made you feel seen and he was always genuinely interested in what you were doing. We all loved Bill. He is greatly missed. Until we meet again.

Relatives and friends are invited to his Viewing 6:00-8:00 PM Sunday, August 2, 2026 at The Donohue Funeral Home, 1627 West Chester Pike, West Chester, PA 19382 and 9:30-10:30 AM Monday, August 3, 2026, followed by his Funeral Mass 11:00 AM at SS Simon & Jude, 8 Cavanaugh Ct, West Chester, PA. Interment SS Peter & Paul Cemetery, Springfield, PA
