William Earl "Bill" McElyea, Jr. age 73, of Oxford, PA, passed away on March 15, 2024.
Born in Mountain City, TN, he was the son of the late William Earl and Ellen (née Rowe) McElyea.
Bill was a jack of all trades, most notably an Iron Worker for A & R Iron Works whose legacy stretches far beyond his professional endeavors. Throughout his life, Bill was not only known for his ability to fix nearly any mechanical problem but also for his unwavering passion for motorcycles. A proud member of the ABATE Pennsylvania Chapter, Bill was a fierce advocate for bikers' rights, making significant contributions to the biking community. His love for two-wheeled rides extended beyond advocacy; he found solace and joy in tinkering with old cars and motorcycles, a hobby that brought him immense happiness.
Beyond his professional and personal interests, Bill was deeply committed to serving his community. He actively participated in various outreach programs aimed at supporting those in need. His efforts in collecting food for local neighborhood service centers touched the lives of many and showcased his compassionate nature.
Bill was the beloved husband of Linda L. (née Wertz) McElyea; the loving father of Crystal Lyons of Oxford, PA, William McElyea, III of Charlotte, NC, Jennifer Gresh of Holmes, PA, and Melissa Greller of Ridley Park, PA. He was the proud grandfather of Alyssa Campbell of Durham, NC and Cameron McElyea of Charlotte, NC; as well as the cherished great-grandfather of 2 great-grandchildren.
