It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of William “Billy” Murphy, who departed this life on June 1, 2026. Born on May 26, 1964, Billy lived a full and meaningful life marked by kindness, loyalty, and a genuine spirit of friendship.
Billy dedicated much of his life to his craft as a Union Carpenter with Local 845, a career he valued deeply and pursued with pride. Billy was known for his sense of humor, caring nature, and unwavering support to those around him. Always ready to lend a hand in a time of need, Billy was a friend to everyone he met.
A devoted family man, Billy was the best dad to his beloved daughters, Megan Knapp (Jimmy) and Shannon Murphy, and a cherished grandfather to James Knapp V. He treasured spending quality time with them. His love for his daughters was endless, and he took great pride in being their father. His caring spirit extended to his mother, Elizabeth Grace Murphy, and his brothers, James Murphy (Juanita) and Patrick Murphy (Judy), as well as numerous cousins, nieces and nephews who remember him fondly. Billy's beloved four-legged companion, Charlie, was a loyal friend always by his side.
Billy enjoyed bowling Thursday nights at Wynnewood Lanes and spending Saturday’s with friends at the Colombo Lodge. A devoted Philadelphia sports fan, he found joy in cheering for his teams, especially the Eagles.
Through his selfless decision to be an organ donor, Billy’s legacy lives on in the lives of many others.
Billy’s life was a testament to the power of loyalty, humor, and compassion. His presence will be deeply missed, but his memory will forever be cherished by those who loved him. He was preceded in death by his father, James Martin Murphy.
