William J. “Bill” Knott, age 86, of Frankford, DE, passed away on July 8, 2025. Born in Philadelphia, PA, he was the son of the late Ralph and Theresa Knott (nee Sangro).
Bill's professional life was marked by an unwavering commitment to his duties and responsibilities. His journey began at the Navy Yard and the Defense Supplies Center, where he adeptly navigated the complexities of heavy equipment operation. He furthered his career with Keystone Quality Transport, showcasing remarkable skill and diligence. Finally, Bill brought his expertise to the Rehoboth Beach Parking Authority, where his efforts were instrumental in ensuring efficient operations for the bustling community.
An individual of exemplary character, Bill demonstrated profound loyalty and courage through his military service in the U.S. Marine Corps, having bravely served during the Korean and Vietnam Wars. His commitment to his country was unwavering, and he embodied the values of honor and sacrifice.
Outside the bounds of work and duty, Bill was a man of varied interests and passions. He found solace and joy in the great outdoors, immersing himself in hunting, fishing, and golfing—each pursuit a testament to his love for nature and adventure. Those who knew him will fondly recall the moments spent on sunlit fairways or alongside tranquil waters, where laughter and camaraderie flourished.
Bill was the beloved husband of the late Mary C. “Dolly” Knott (nee Meiler); loving father of Rick Sabin (Lisa), Christine Shawver (Ron), and Michael Sabin (Christina); adoring grandfather of Lauren Shawver, Melissa Shawver, Kaitlyn Shawver, Kelley Sabin, Hope Sabin, Steven DeGrazio, and Jonathan DeGrazio; caring great-grandfather of Tori Locke. Predeceased by his brother, Ralph Knott.
Family and friends are invited to Bill’s Viewing 9:00-10:00 AM on Thursday, July 17, 2025 at St. Dorothy Church, 4910 Township Line Rd., Drexel Hill, PA 19026, followed by his Funeral Mass at 10:00 AM. Interment SS Peter and Paul Cemetery, Springfield, PA.
