William “Bill” DeStefano, age 74, of Springfield, PA, passed away on March 19, 2026. Born in Philadelphia, PA, he was the son of the late Albert and Doris DeStefano (nee Mark).
Bill lived a life suffused with intelligence, humor, and an enduring passion for both knowledge and faith. His presence was a beacon of warmth and wisdom to all who were fortunate to know him. Bill was a proud US Army veteran, having served with distinction in the 1st Armor Division.
Bill's devotion to his Catholic faith was a central pillar of his existence. His strong belief in God guided him through the joys and challenges of life, inspiring those around him through his quiet example and deep spiritual commitment. Bill’s life was a testament to the virtues espoused by his faith—compassion, humility, and unwavering hope.
A man of many interests, Bill cultivated a rich tapestry of hobbies that spoke to his vibrant spirit and restless intellect. Bill loved and enjoyed music. He had an eclectic taste, everything from hard rock to country, including Sinatra. His dedication to fitness was a reflection of his determined nature; he believed in the importance of caring for the body as much as the mind. He found delight in the pages of books and the mental challenge of crossword puzzles, pursuits that kept his sharp mind engaged and eager for continual learning.
Bill’s love extended to his beloved dogs, with whom he spent countless joyful hours. These moments of playful companionship offered him solace and happiness, underscoring a life lived fully in the presence of those he cherished. An ardent sports enthusiast, Bill’s loyalty to Philadelphia’s sports teams was rivaled only by his admiration for the Green Bay Packers for which he was a shareholder. His passionate support also embraced collegiate teams such as Penn State, Notre Dame, Temple, and Bonner, reflecting his broad appreciation for athletic excellence.
Bill "Hon" was the beloved husband of Joann "Hon" DeStefano (nee Muldoon) and caring brother of Albert DeStefano (Donna), Thomas DeStefano (Carla), Jackie Montefiore (Paul), and the late Donna DeStefano. Also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
