It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Wiliam “Billy” Salvatore Bellino, Jr. of West Chester, PA on August 6, 2025. He was a devoted family man, an excellent carpenter and classic car enthusiast. Everyone who knew him knew that he was very proud of his family. Billy passed away peacefully at Lankenau hospital, surrounded by his loving family.
Billy was born in West Philadelphia on August 20, 1945 to William Sr. and Rita Bellino. He was a proud graduate of St. Thomas More High School, where he made many lifelong friends. Billy was fond of telling stories from his childhood and all of the memories from the neighborhood where he grew up were clearly dear to him.
Billy met the love of his life, Rosemary Intenzo, during their High School years. They were married in November of 1965 and would have celebrated their 60th anniversary this year. They welcomed Donna in 1969 and Cheryl in 1971. They raised their family in Havertown, PA. Fond of traveling, they would take many road trips throughout the USA over the years. Of all of the sights they had seen and places they visited, Colorado was his favorite.
Though he loved working with and collecting classic cars and being the fixer for just about anything, Billy’s favorite role was being a grandfather. He treasured his time with each of his grandchildren and loved being their PopPop. From annual trips to Bethany Beach with them to getting a Go Kart for them to ride around with him, there are countless other memories, and it was clear that he loved every moment that he spent with them. He truly cherished each of his grandchildren. Traditions were very important to him as well and there were plenty of those, but none were as important as the annual Christmas Eve dinner that always took place at their home with the entire family.
Billy had a soft spot for his furry friends, treating each and every one like the valuable family member they were. While he loved them all, Bentley, his Cavalier King spaniel, was closest to him. Until his passing, Billy and Bentley would spend their days relaxing together and taking car rides.
Billy started out his work life as a home builder along with his father. Later in life, he decided to change things up and he started working at Lankenau Hospital, where he would remain for 25 years until he retired. He loved his job there and he would often share the latest family updates with his co-workers.
Everyone who knew Billy knew how much he loved classic cars. From purchasing and restoring to talking about them, he was all things classic cars. His knowledge of them was more than remarkable. Often he and Rosemary would be seen at a local car show with one of his rides and they would also venture further away for larger car shows.
Billy will always be remembered for his calm and quiet demeanor. He never failed to say “be careful” when someone was driving somewhere or traveling. His care and love were always present. We will always imagine hearing him say that or “be cool” one more time. We could not have asked for a better Husband, Father and PopPop and will miss Billy every day. His memory will live on in the hearts of all those who loved him.
Billy was preceded in death by his parents, Rita and William Sr. He is survived by his wife, Rosemary Bellino, his two daughters, Donna Bowles (Tom) and Cheryl Sakel (Joe) as well as his beloved grandchildren, Alyssa Rose, Olivia Bella, Nicholas Joseph, and Owen William and his sister, Caroline Mammucari (Richard).
Relatives and friends are invited to his Visitation 10:00-11:30 AM Saturday, August 16, 2025 at Saints Simon and Jude Church, 8 Cavanaugh Court, West Chester, PA 19382, followed his Funeral Mass at 11:30 AM. Interment private.
In lieu of flowers, donations to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or the Brandywine Valley SPCA would be greatly appreciated.
