William R. Bacher

William “Bill” R. Bacher, 92, of West Chester, PA and formerly of Philadelphia, passed away on March 8, 2023.

He was the son of the late William R. and Isabelle Bacher (née Savage).

Bill was a devoted husband for 71 years to his wife Lorraine (née Starkey). They met at their 8th grade graduation dance and he often reminded her that it was love at first sight. Not a day went by without him telling her how much he loved her.

Bill was the beloved father of William R. Bacher (Rose), Lynn B. McKee (Gerry) and Pamela A. Fleuette (Andy); adoring grandfather of 7 grandchildren: Stephanie (Rick), Billy (Dana), Chris, Kim (Kevin), Gerard (Liz), Michael (Meghan) and Emilie; and 10 great grandchildren for whom he was an incredible role model; dear brother of Charles (Nancy). He was predeceased by his brother James (Norma) and his sister Margaret McMichael (Philip).

Bill was a retired Philadelphia Police Detective and a retired Command Sergeant Major in the Army Reserve. He was a long-time member of Saints Peter & Paul church where he attended daily mass. His commitment and dedication to his family, faith, country and career were unwavering.

Bill was a quiet, humble man who will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Services and interment will be private for the immediate family.
