Wesley A. Waters, Jr., affectionately known as Wes, age 85, of Havertown, PA, passed away on October 24, 2026. Born in Philadelphia, PA, he was the son of the late Alma Beatrice Jones and Wesley A. Waters, Sr.
Wes was the cherished husband of Mary Ann Waters (nee Angeli); loving father of Quintin Waters (wife Nadine), Jennifer Salters (husband Darryl), Stefan Waters, Steven Waters, and the late Wesley Waters; adoring grandfather of Darrian Salters, Caleb Salters, and Mariah Waters; great-grandfather of Josiah Salters. He is also survived by his sister “Bobbie”/Alma Waters and many nieces, nephews and numerous friends. Predeceased by his siblings, Bernice Smith, Alice Dix, Wayne Waters, Cynthia Stevens, Richard Waters, and Lorita Bynum.
Wes lived a life marked by professional accomplishments, cultivated interests, and a deep appreciation for beauty, craftsmanship, and the enduring pleasures of learning and collecting. He built a distinguished career as a Program Manager, lending his talents and leadership to Lockheed Martin, GE, Honeywell, RCA, Chilton Company, O.I.C., and the Philadelphia School District. His work reflected dedication, skill and a steady commitment to excellence across a remarkable span of respected organizations.
Beyond his professional life, Wes was a man of wide-ranging passions. He was a member and former president of the Art Deco Society of Washington, Classic Car Club of America, Antique Automobile Club of America, Lincoln Continental Owners Club and the BMW Owners Club, all communities that reflected his admiration for design, engineering, and timeless elegance. After his retirement, Wes and Mary Ann operated “The ERA”, a retail collectibles business, and Wes gave lectures on “The Art Deco Era—1926-1945”; they were writing a book “Deco Form & Function, a Pictorial Essay on Industrial Design and Style”. His interest in Art Deco collecting speaks to a discerning eye and a love for the distinctive character of a celebrated era. He also found enjoyment in playing classical guitar and boating, pursuits that suggest both artistry and a fondness for life’s quieter, more graceful moments.
Everyone who met Wes soon discovered that he knew something about every subject, and he happily shared his knowledge with anyone who was interested in listening to him. Mary Ann often said, “Be careful if you ask Wes what time it is…he’ll tell you how to make a clock!”
Family and friends are welcome to attend Wes’ Visitation from 11:00 AM to 12:30 PM on Friday, November 13th at The Donohue Funeral Home, 8401 West Chester Pike, Upper Darby, PA 19082, followed by his Celebration of Life Service at 12:30 PM.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the National Aphasia Association, (aphasia.org/ways-to-donate), or to any charity in Wes’ name.
