Wayne Wilson, 82 years old, passed away peacefully at home with his loved ones on Tuesday, April 28, 2026.
Devoted, loving husband to Marian A. (King) Wilson for over 58 years, amazing father to Michele Truitt (husband-Dan), Pamela Hale (partner-Shannon), and Wayne Thomas Wilson, II (wife-JoAnne). Wayne was also the loving Grandfather to Daniel Truitt, II, Emma Truitt, Zachary Wilson, and Jazmin Wilson. Born in Philadelphia, PA, the second child of Thomas E. Wilson and Martha (Schnegas) Wilson. Survived by his sisters, Patricia Chen (Cary) and Elaine Roscoe (Hal, deceased), Wayne has now joyfully reunited with their brother, Thomas and their parents. He left too many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends to count.
Wayne graduated from Marple Newtown Senior High in 1963, and attended Penn State University. He went on to enlist in the Air Force as a Medical Corps Man (Medic), and was honorably discharged, later joining the American Legion. His dream of becoming a doctor was not realized, but he did find his career path in healthcare. Wayne worked with many of the major Philadelphia region health systems as a financial analyst for over 40 years.
A devout Born Again Christian (Reformed Episcopalian), baptized as an adult, Wayne had a life long love of Christ. This faith was evident through till the end, as Wayne, Marian, and their children would pray often together. Knowing Wayne was renewed by Christ’s Blood gives all of those who know him joy and peace.
Wayne and Marian met at Church when they were teens. They wed on January 13, 1968, and made their family homes in Upper Darby (12 years), Newtown Square (34 years), and West Chester PA (12 years). Wayne loved his family! He had eyes only for his beautiful Marian, and was a very involved father. With his children and wife, Wayne shared his love of travel, roller coasters, food, cars, trains, and creative solutions to everyday problems. His quick wit and infectious humor was a gift he passed on to all of his children, and was enjoyed by all through his last days.
A Note From Marian:
Wayne and I met when I was 12 years old, at the time never dreaming I would marry him. People said we would never last. Well, here we are, 58 years and 4 months married (60+ years counting our courtship and engagement). Because we loved each other, had faith in God and accepted Jesus as our Savior, we had everything we needed here on Earth. To My Husband, my love, my rock, father to our children, I will love you, Hon, and miss you until we are reunited in Our Father's Heavenly Kingdom.
Interment will be private on a date to be determined.
In lieu of flowers, the Wilson Family requests that you consider making a contribution to the University of Pennsylvania Hospital Kidney Transplant Fund. Your donation would be in honor of Wayne Wilson.
