Virginia M. "Jinny" Nee (nee Mersinger), age 96, of Summerfield, FL, formerly of Havertown, PA passed away on November 2, 2018.
Born in 1922 in Troy, IL, she was the daughter of the late George and Agnes (nee Dougherty) Mersinger.
A talented Artist and "crafter", Jinny was a member of the Artist Guild of Delaware County. She painted, sewed and crocheted and it is rumored that every household in Delaware County has one of her beautiful afghans. Described as "Inspirational" by her family, Jinny knew how to make lemonade out of the lemons she encountered. One of her favorite expressions was "This too, shall pass". She was a member of "The VML Sorority" aka,"Veterans of Married Life Club",
a group of women, who gathered, supported and encouraged each other for over 50 years. Kitty Welsh is the last surviving member of this beloved group.
Jinny was the beloved wife of the late William C. Nee; loving mother of William (the late Kay), James (Donna), Robert, Donald (MaryAnn), Virginia Fontana (Leo) and Doris Dougherty. She is survived by her 9 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild. She is also survived her by her sister Joan Trifiletti. Jinny was pre-deceased by her granddaughter Dawn Marie Nee.
Relatives and friends are invited to her Visitation 8:30-10:00 AM Saturday, December 1, 2018 at the Donohue Funeral Home, 8401 West Chester Pike, Upper Darby, PA 19082, followed by her Funeral Service at 10:30 AM Sacred Heart Church, 105 Wilson Ave, Havertown, PA 19083. Interment SS Peter & Paul Cemetery, Springfield, PA.
