Thomas A. Shearman

Thomas A. Shearman, age 75, of Havertown, PA, passed away on April 21, 2022.  Born in Philadelphia, PA, he was the son of the late Thomas H. and Bertha C. Shearman (nee Dingler).

Tom served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War era.  After his time in the army, he spent the remainder of his career as a Systems Analyst for CoreStates bank. He was especially proud of his work implementing early MAC machines (now known as ATM’s) throughout the world.

Tom was a funny, devoted, loving, hard-working, selfless man who loved spending time with his family and grandchildren.  He always enjoyed fishing at the Cooper River in New Jersey and visiting any beach, particularly Wildwood Crest, and Ocean City, NJ. He loved watching sports and was an avid Philadelphia Flyers fan.  

When not with family, Tom always  enjoyed catching up with friends over lunch.  He also enjoyed having wings with his buddies at Byrne’s Tavern in Port Richmond.  He loved using his tools on many home projects, not only for himself but also for so many others.  No matter where, he was never without his Swiss Farms Iced Tea or starlight mints.  At home, he enjoyed many naps in his chair, usually while wearing his favorite old (ancient) blue sweater accompanied by his cats.

Tom is survived by his beloved wife of 54 years, Vera (nee Petty).  Loving father of Joyce S. Zengel (John), Karen S. Zink (Brian) and David T. Shearman (Marilyn).  Devoted Pop-Pop to Johnny, Amanda, Thomas, Allen, Madelyn, Matthew and Alex.  Dear brother of Allene Antonelli (Ralph), John Shearman (Sally), Richard Shearman, Barbara Shearman, and uncle to many nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit the family on Thursday, April 28, 2022 9:30-11:30 AM at The Donohue Funeral Home, 8401 West Chester Pike (cor. Lynn Blvd.), Upper Darby, PA (610) 449-0300 and to his Memorial Services at 11:30 AM.  Interment is private.  Masks are required.
