Thomas Edward Morrissey

Thomas “Tom” Edward Morrissey, 85, of Ocean City, NJ and formerly of Downingtown, PA, passed away on January 26, 2023 in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida.

Born in 1937, in Philadelphia, Tom was the son of the late Frank J. Morrissey and Jane (née McGarrity) Morrissey.

Tom was the beloved husband of the late Mary Ellen (née O’Connell) Morrissey; loving father of Maryanne Morrissey (David Satterfield), Jane M. O’Neill (Matthew), Joseph C. Morrissey (Marcia) and the late Thomas E. Morrissey Jr.; proud grandfather of Liam O’Neill, Kate O’Neill, Ryan O’Neill and Thomas E. Morrissey III; dear brother of Francis J. Morrissey and Edward P. Morrissey.

Tom was a graduate of Villanova University and lifetime Wildcat fan. He spent his 60 year career in the Philadelphia broker dealer market at F.J. Morrissey & Company, Inc. where he specialized in Pennsylvania Banks and Thrifts. His aptitude in trading and capital markets was his true passion.

He spent his free time and retirement in both Ocean City, New Jersey and Florida where he enjoyed the water, boats, sunsets, flowers, peach pie and time with his family, friends and neighbors. He loved to talk about his grandchildren and their accomplishments.

He was a lifelong Philadelphia sports fan who followed the many ups and downs of both the Phillies and the Eagles. His warmth and quick wit endeared him to all who interacted with him. He was a very generous man who touched and changed many lives.

Relatives and friends are invited to his Viewing 9:30-11:30 AM Saturday, February 4, 2023 at SS Philip & James Church, Exton, PA followed by his Funeral Mass 11:30 AM. Interment St. Agnes Cemetery, West Chester, PA.
