Thelma W. Langley (nee Watson), age 96, of Wilmington, DE, passed away on February 3, 2026. Born in Upper Chichester, PA, she was the daughter of the late Earl Gray and Mabel Louise Watson (nee Rye).
Thelma's professional journey was as diverse as her interests. She skillfully wore many hats throughout her life, serving as a secretary, seamstress, and caterer assistant, demonstrating an unwavering commitment to her work and an admirable attention to detail. Yet, intertwined with her professional achievements, was her most significant role— mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. The joy she found in her family was, without a doubt, her greatest accomplishment.
Beyond her careers, Thelma's passions flourished in the comfort of her home. Her love for crossword and jigsaw puzzles reflected her keen intellect and tenacity, while her sewing, macramé, knitting, and crocheting showcased her artistic spirit. She found tranquility in crafting beautiful items with her hands, steering her creativity into prolific works. Music was another of her great loves, with the melodies of Alan Jackson often filling her home, creating an atmosphere of both nostalgia and happiness. Above all, Thelma cherished the moments spent with her family, reveling in laughter, stories, and the enduring bonds that united them.
Thelma was the beloved wife of the late Arthur A. Langley Jr.; loving mother of Susan (Bill), Joyce, Janis (John), Robert (Kim), and the late Sharon (Dominic), Debbie, and Jim; adoring grandmother of Nicholas (Jamie), Anthony (Kristy), Vincent (Mollie), William (Jennifer), Jackie (Bill), Eric, Craig, Mark, John (Brooke), Brad (Melissa), Tara (Harry), Kerry, and Cody. Also survived by her brothers, Melvin and George, and numerous great grandchildren. Predeceased by her siblings, Howard, Loretta, Earl, Carolyn, and Hilda.
Family and friends are invited to Thelma’s Viewing 9:00-10:45 AM on Thursday, February 12th at The Knoetgen Donohue Funeral Home, 746 Kedron Ave, Morton, PA 19070, followed by her Funeral Service at 11:00 AM. Interment Private.
In lieu of flowers, contributions to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Pl., Memphis, TN 38105, or Homes for our Troops, 6 Main St., Taunton, MA 02780, would be appreciated.
