Steven “Fats” Diano, of Byron Center, MI, born in Philadelphia, and spent half his life in Las Vegas, sadly passed away on June 29, 2026, at the age of 61, surrounded by his loving wife and family.
Steven was the beloved husband of Virginia Lee (née Blake) Diano; the loving stepfather of Jessica Backing (Brad), Kurt Patterson (Ashley), Joseph Patterson, and Kevin Patterson; and the proud and caring grandfather of Alexis, Blake, Ava, Kamden and Everett.
Steven was the son of Ramona (née Cavalier) Diano and the late Santo M. Diano.
He is also survived by his brother, David Diano, as well many extended family, countless friends, and acquaintances.
Steven was a graduate of Haverford High School, Class of 1982. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics at Villanova University, Villanova, PA. His childhood passion for games, from chess to cards led him to football pools, poker tournaments and eventually professional sports betting. Though he had a strong educational foundation in mathematics, it was his instincts that led him to industry success.
Steven forged an impressive career in the betting industry. He carved a unique niche in the industry as a professional sport’s bettor and casino gamer. His innovative approach, insightful analysis, fearless spirit, and renowned honesty cemented his reputation as a respected figure in his field.
Relatives and friends are invited to honor Steven at a Visitation on Friday, July 17, 2026, 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at St. Denis Roman Catholic Church, 2401 St. Denis Lane, Havertown, PA, followed by a Funeral Mass commencing at 11:00 AM.
