Stephen Stanley Wenclewicz

Stephen (Steve) Stanley Wenclewicz, 74, of Valley Township, PA, passed away May 5, 2025. 

Born October 31, 1950 in Philadelphia, PA, he was the son of the late Stanley S. and Tessie (nee Malkowski) Wenclewicz. Stephen was the father of Janine Ireland (Nicholas) and Stephen S. Wenclewicz, Jr. (Deena); adoring grandfather of Makayla Ireland, Aubrey Ireland, Patrick Ireland, Colton Wenclewicz, and Carter Wenclewicz; caring brother of Karen Izumi; and uncle of many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister, Patricia Shaw. 

Steve grew up on East Firth Street and attended Jules E. Mastbaum High School in Philadelphia, where he majored in music and played the saxophone. He was a member of St. Laurentius Parish in Fishtown, where he served as an altar boy. Shortly after having his children, Steve moved out of the city to Chester County. He worked at the William J. Dixon Company in Exton, Pennsylvania until he retired.

Steve served honorably in the U.S. Army during Vietnam. He was a member of the 101st Airborne Division. He received the Vietnam Service Medal with 3 Bronze Service Stars, the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, the Combat Infantryman Badge, the Army Commendation Medal, Air Medal, and a Purple Heart. 

He was a big fan of the Philadelphia Eagles. He collected both coins and guns and was an avid range shooter at the Atglen Sportsman Club. Steve also liked spending time outdoors fishing or tending to his vegetable garden and fruit trees. He enjoyed reading books about military history and watching war documentaries and action movies. During his retirement, he frequented the Double D Diner in Coatesville, where he enjoyed socializing with the staff and befriended other patrons.
