 . Stephen M. Cushmore, of Malvern, PA, a devoted father and esteemed professional, passed away on June 4, 2025, at the age of 79.

Born in Philadelphia, PA, he was the son of the late Edward M. and Eleanor T. (née Theiss) Cushmore.

A graduate of the William Penn Charter School and Princeton University, Steve excelled academically and athletically. He was a three sport athlete at Penn Charter, and was inducted into it’s Athletic Hall of Fame. At Princeton, Steve was a three year letterman in baseball, setting several single season pitching records Following graduation from Princeton Steve was drafted by the Detroit Tigers and played 3 years in their minor league system before going on to the Villanova University School of Law, where he made Law Review and graduated with distinction.

Steve’s professional journey began as an Estate Attorney with several law firms in the Philadelphia area, before transitioning to a Financial Advisor role with the Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance Company. Leveraging all of this estate planning experience, Steve then continued his career as the Director of Planned Giving at the Lawrenceville School, before retiring.

Steve was an avid Philadelphia sports fan, and particularly the Philadelphia Phillies. He enjoyed playing tennis and golf, skiing, and cherished summers spent at Martin's Dam Swim Club. He particularly valued family vacations, creating memories that would last a lifetime. Steve loved music and had a very good singing voice which he showed off as a member of the Mainliners, a distinguished men’s cappella group based in the Philadelphia suburbs. Finally, Steve was a dedicated supporter of the Bethesda Project, a nonprofit organization that provides shelter, housing, and supportive services to individuals experiencing homelessness.

Above all, Stephen was proud of his role as a father. His unwavering support and commitment to his family were hallmarks of his character. Friends and loved ones will fondly remember him as someone who was always there to lend a helping hand, no matter the task at hand.

Stephen was the beloved husband of the late Kathleen S. (née Sharkey) Cushmore; the loving father of Nicholas Cushmore (Karen), Andrew Cushmore, and Geoffrey Cushmore (Cara). He was the proud and caring grandfather of Holly, Tysie, Tony, and Teddy. Stephen was also survived by his brother, Michael E. “Ted” Cushmore and his sister, Margaret C. “Peggy” Bolcoa.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate Stephen’s life at his Visitation Thursday evening, June 19, 2025, 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at The Donohue Funeral Home, 3300 West Chester Pike, Newtown Square, PA 19073, and on Friday morning, June 20, 2025, 9:30 AM to 10:15 AM at St. Norbert Catholic Church, 50 Leopard Road, Paoli, PA 19301, followed by his Funeral Mass beginning at 10:30 AM. Interment thereafter at SS. Peter and Paul Cemetery, Springfield, PA.
