Stanley A. Spurrier

Aug 22, 1931 — Oct 29, 2026

Stanley A. "Stan" Spurrier, age 95, of Springfield, PA, formerly of Collingdale, PA, passed away peacefully on October 29, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Birmingham, England in 1931, he was the son of the late William Arthur and Edith Priscilla (née Owen) Spurrier.

Stan lived an extraordinary 95 years, beginning in Birmingham, England. During World War II, he and several of his younger siblings were evacuated to Abergavenny, Wales, a town that would forever hold a special place in his heart. He spent much of his childhood exploring and climbing Sugarloaf Mountain, a place he loved so dearly that it is where his ashes will be spread. Stan developed his strong work ethic at a very young age, beginning with a horse-drawn milk delivery route in England before eventually joining the British Army.

Stan and his younger brother David came to America in 1955, planning what was supposed to be a six-month stay with their sister. Little did Stan know that this visit would change the course of his life forever. He met and married the love of his life, Delphine, and together they built a beautiful family. Of all the things Stan accomplished in his 95 years, nothing made him prouder than his children and grandchildren, whom he always considered his greatest accomplishment.

In America, Stan continued his strong work ethic, holding various jobs throughout his life, including pharmacy assistant, postman, fueler for Eastern Airlines, and finally, courier for Mustang Expediting. His years with Eastern Airlines gave him the wonderful opportunity to travel extensively with his family, creating memories that would last a lifetime. Some of his favorite adventures included trips to Hawaii, Aruba, the Virgin Islands, Florida, and, of course, his many trips back home to England. But just as special were the countless weeks spent in Ocean City, New Jersey, and the Outer Banks, surrounded by the family he loved so much. For Stan, it was never just about the destination, but about being together and making memories with the people who meant everything to him.

Stan was a warm and loving man who truly enjoyed life and the company of family and friends. He loved a good party, a reason to celebrate, and never minded a little attention! While he wasn't always the loudest person in the room, he enjoyed being surrounded by the people he loved. His gentle nature, warmth, and love for his family will always be remembered and cherished by those who knew him.

Stan was the beloved husband of the late Anne Delphine (née Love) Spurrier; loving father of Laurence Spurrier (Ellen), Kimberly Berg (Paul), Lisa Hurley (John), and Mark Spurrier (Kathie); adored DaDa to Devin, Lauren, Michael, John (Rachel), Matthew, Rachel, Jeff, and Logan; beloved bonus DaDa to Stephanie, Shannon (Lou), and James (Allie); and proud bonus great-DaDa to Noah, Jenny, and Millie.

Stan was predeceased by his beloved wife, Delphine; his siblings Albert, Olive (Harry), Kathleen (Cyril), Ted (Jean), Noel (Jean), Phyllis (Ron), David (Kathy), and Margaret; his nephews Colin Barker and Chris Sutor; his son-in-law Casey Wise; and his dear friend Arthur Cox, who held such a special place in his heart that Stan even named his beloved cat after him.
