Shirley Jane Miller

Shirley Jane Miller, born April 15, 1944, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully on Friday, November 21, 2025 (age 81), leaving behind a legacy of love, service, and dedication. She was the beloved daughter of the late James Knight Gordon and Marion Gordon (née Grier).

Shirley is survived by her husband of 59 years, Richard Miller, with whom she shared a loving life. She was a devoted mother to her daughter, Jennifer Davis (née Miller) and son-in-law, Wayne Davis. She was a proud and loving “Mom-Mom” to her cherished grandchildren: Brandon, Chelsea, and Jackson Davis.

She was preceded in death by her beloved grandchildren, Caitlyn and Christopher Davis, whom she now joins in eternal peace.

Shirley was a devoted educator in the Upper Darby School District for nearly 40 years. A proud graduate of West Chester University, Class of 1966, with a Master's of Education from Temple University, she served as a teacher, tutor, and reading specialist, helping countless students develop a love for learning and the confidence to succeed.

Shirley had a deep love for art and was a skilled artist. Through her creativity, she expressed beauty, emotion, and faith, leaving behind pieces that reflect her gentle spirit and thoughtful heart

She was a devoted lover of dogs — especially her beloved Shu-shu, Angel, and Lily — and a loyal fan of the Philadelphia Phillies. Shirley was also an active and faithful member of her church community in many ways such as teaching Sunday School, singing in the choir, and being a member of the J.O.Y. Group. Shirley was always willing to volunteer her time and heart to help others.

Family and friends are invited to a visitation on Monday, December 1, 2025, from 9:30 to 11:00 a.m. at Ardmore United Methodist Church, located at 200 Argyle Rd, Ardmore, PA 19003. A Funeral Service will follow at 11:00 a.m. Inurnment will take place in the Ardmore United Methodist Church Memorial Gardens.
