Sharon Anne Campbell

September 18, 1944 — October 18, 2025

Sharon “Sherry” Anne (Scott) Campbell, of Media, PA, passed away peacefully on October 18, 2025, at the age of 81.

A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, Sherry’s life was defined by her faith, her tireless compassion, and her enduring belief that, no matter how hard things get, everything is fixable…even if all you can do to fix things is laugh.

Sherry was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 36 years, Thomas E. Campbell, and cherished son, Thomas “Tommy” C. Campbell. She is survived and deeply missed by her loving daughter, Karen (Campbell) Vitale and son-in-law, Ronald Vitale, and adoring grandchildren, Gavin and Rebecca Vitale.

Born in Darby, PA, Sherry was the eldest child of the late Charles and Dorothy (Harak) Scott and sister to the late Charles F. Scott. Her memory lives on in the hearts of countless loved ones in the Scott and Campbell families, as well as numerous friends who count her as family.

Sherry’s love and care for those around her knew no limits. She was a devoted advocate and caregiver for her son, Tommy, who lived with special needs. For decades, she fought to ensure he received the care, dignity, and inclusion he deserved. Her persistence changed not only Tommy’s life but the lives of everyone who came to know him.

That same spirit of generosity guided everything Sherry did. Whether she was helping nurse her husband Tom back to health after he was wounded in battle in Vietnam, teaching second graders in the Chester School District, guiding preschoolers at Creative Nursery School in North Brunswick, or volunteering with the Holy Innocents Society in Trenton to teach catechism to those with special needs, she gave so much of her time and heart to others.

Sherry’s faith was central to her life and relationships. As members of St. Augustine of Canterbury Parish in Kendall Park, New Jersey, she and Tom built lifelong friendships rooted in their CFM and Regathering communities, prayer, and service.

After many happy years in New Jersey, Sharon moved back to Pennsylvania to be closer to her family, helping care for her grandchildren during their early years. Together, they created a lifetime of memories—snowy days spent swimming at her community’s indoor pool, dollar store shopping sprees, questionable culinary creations, like “Chicken Parmesan” made from frozen chicken patties, ketchup, and American cheese, and her signature dish: whipped cream straight from the can.

As a caregiver to so many in her life, Sherry learned early on the importance of finding joy and laughter in every day to help fuel her efforts to care for others.

One place that always brought her peace and renewal was the sea—whether she was in Cape May, Brigantine, California, or Galway Bay.

Joy and laughter were a big part of that recipe for renewal, too. And Sherry found so much joy in the world around her. She never met a dog she didn’t love, a cup of coffee she didn’t savor, or a book she wouldn’t read into the wee hours of the morning.

She was a devoted fan of “Jeopardy!” (for obvious reasons) and “Wheel of Fortune” (inexplicably). She loved doing crosswords and the daily Diffle and was a shark when it came to playing 31 and Yahtzee—a lesson Ron, Gavin, and Becca learned the hard way, along with “Mimi plays for money, and she plays to win.” (Though Gavin and Becca later turned the tables on her with Mario Cart.)

She also helped create so many wonderful memories by sharing her love of the arts with everyone around her. From summertime Plays in the Park in Menlo Park, NJ, to Jersey Boys on Broadway, to Hamilton, Les Mis, Mamma Mia! and more in Philadelphia, she helped inspire a new generation of artists, creators, and performers.

Sherry will always be remembered for the warmth and love she extended to everyone she met. She was “Aunt Sherry” to countless nieces and nephews she loved like her own children—including family by blood, by marriage, by parish, and by proximity, like her North Brunswick family, the Herberts and the Morins.

She leaves behind a legacy of kindness, courage, and laughter that will continue to ripple outward in every person she touched.

Relatives and friends are invited to Sharon’s viewing from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM on Monday, October 27, 2025, at The Donohue Funeral Home, 8401 West Chester Pike, Upper Darby, PA, followed by her funeral service at 3:00 PM. A private interment at Holy Cross Cemetery in New Jersey will take place at a later date.

To honor Sherry’s lifelong example, the family requests donations to Special Olympics in Sherry’s memory in lieu of flowers. May we all carry on her legacy—caring deeply, laughing often, and fixing what we can, whenever we can, to make the world better for those around us.
