Samuel A. Street, Jr.

Samuel A Street Jr, age 91, of West Chester, PA, passed away on July 18, 2026. Born and raised in Philadelphia he was the son of Samuel A and Lily C (nee Cooper) Street.

Sam graduated from Bartram High School and worked at the Philadelphia Naval Yard where he met his wife, Gertrude, who he would be married to for 66 years. He graduated from Drexel University with a Civil Engineering degree and worked for HUD until he retired.

He was a kind and gentle man who enjoyed golf, baseball, bowling, bridge, and especially fishing. He attended theatre, opera and ballet with his wife. They enjoyed traveling with friends and family. Cape May was always a favorite destination. More recently he liked to tackle jigsaw puzzles and there was always a crossword or sudoku to be solved. His cat Lucy gave him comfort in his last years.

Sam was a devoted husband to Gertrude, loving father to David Street MD, Sheree Street (Billy Desert), Denise Street (Lewis Stephenson), and Nancy Page, (Thomas); doting Poppop of Cara, Aron, Haley, and Mikaela and Great grandfather of Marshall and Thomas; brother-in-law of Eleanor Anderson.

Relatives and friends are invited to services Friday August 14 at St Maximillian Kolbe church in West Chester, PA. Visitation at 10:30, Mass to follow at 11:00.
