Sally Feitig Caruso

November 14, 1946 - January 22, 2024

Sally Feitig Caruso, 77, of Villanova, PA, passed away peacefully in her home on Monday, January 22, 2024 from complications related to diabetes.

Sally was born on November 14, 1946 at the University of Pennsylvania Hospital in Philadelphia, PA to Louis "Bob" Feitig, a WWII veteran, and Keturah “Betty” Harps Feitig, a registered nurse. Sally joins her late husband, Richard E. Caruso, Ph.D., her parents, and her younger siblings, twins Mary Samet and John Feitig, in eternal rest.

Sally grew up in her family’s ancestral home in Snydersville, PA surrounded by grandparents, aunts and uncles. Sally was a graduate of Stroudsburg High School and Susquehanna University. While at Susquehanna, she studied abroad at the Pembroke College at Oxford University in the UK, and afterwards traveled extensively in England with friends. Friendships made in college with her Alpha Delta Pi sorority sisters were important to Sally and she remained close with them throughout her life.

Following graduation, Sally went on to earn a master’s degree in elementary education from East Stroudsburg University and became a third grade teacher in Allentown, PA. It was while teaching that Sally met Rich, a fellow Susquehanna alumnus, and they were married at herfamily home in August 1972. Sally and Rich remained connected to Susquehanna University over the years and Sally most recently returned to campus for the ribbon cutting of the Dr. Richard E. and Sally F. Caruso Mentoring and Innovation Center.

As a child, Sally would spend summers with her family in Ocean City, NJ, where she discovered her lifetime love of the ocean. Sally was delighted to continue this tradition at the Jersey shore, first with Rich and their two sons, Jonathan and Peter, and then with her grandchildren, where many fond memories were formed.

Sally was very proud of her heritage. Along with her mother, she was an active lifelong member of the Jacob Stroud Chapter of the D.A.R.

Sally loved cooking for family and friends and took great pride in her family’s recipes. Over the years, she hosted many charity events in her home. She loved history, culture and culinary delights and attended a wide variety of classes at Main Line School Night for many years. She enjoyed reading and traveling the world, especially Scotland and Germany, the ancestral homes of her family.

Sally’s life was devoted to her family. Her sons, daughter-in-law, and her grandchildren were her pride and joy, and brought her happiness each day. Sally looked forward to regularly attending her grandchildren’s sporting events and delighted in all of their family gatherings over the years.

Sally is survived by her son, Jonathan Caruso, and his wife, Jennifer Bongard Caruso, of Media, their children, Kaitlyn, Tyler, and Ryan Caruso, and her son, Peter Caruso, of Villanova. She is also survived by many loving nephews and nieces, and grandnephews and grandnieces.
