Ruth Gallagher

Ruth Gallagher, of Newtown Square, PA, a beloved presence to all who knew her, passed away peacefully on November 25, 2025, at the age of 87.

Born in Shade Gap, PA, she was the daughter of the late Claire and Hazel (née Miller) Locke and sister to her late brother Dale Locke.

Ruth dedicated many years of her life to working as a Sales Clerk at Sears Department Store, where her infectious smile and kind words made her a favorite among customers and coworkers alike. She approached each day with an unwavering positivity and a genuine interest in the lives of those around her. She had a remarkable ability to see the good in people, often speaking glowingly about others, which endeared her to so many.

Spending time with her loved ones, particularly her grandchildren, was Ruth’s greatest joy in life. Her nurturing spirit and eagerness to support her family were evident in everything she did.

In her leisure time, Ruth delighted in playing crossword puzzles and card games, and was an avid reader, often losing herself in the pages of a good book.  She loved watching Phillies and Eagles games. In her later years, Ruth and her husband resided in Tennessee. She relished the time she lived in Tennessee and the memories she made there with her husband and family. Tennessee was a place that held a special charm for her. The family gatherings there were always a highlight, allowing her to create lasting memories with family and friends.

Ruth was the beloved wife of the late Alfred K. Gallagher; the loving mother of Kenny Gallagher (Faye), Karen Cummings (Greg), and Kittra Marino (Bob). She was the caring grandmother of April Lammey (Randy), Brett Gallagher (Christine), Sean Cummings (Donna), Ryan Cummings (Rachael), Nolan Cummings (Sierra), Gary Marino, and Anthony Marino, and the late Kevin Marino. She was the dear great-grandmother of Alanah Gallagher, Kain Gallagher, Auden Lammey, Emma Cummings, and #5 on-the-way, Carsyn Cummings, in December.

Services and interment will be held privately.
