RUDARD ROBINSON

Passed after a long illness on Tuesday, June 11, 2024, at his home in Germantown in Philadelphia. Beloved husband of David Fair and brother of Sharae and James. Rudy was a tireless advocate on behalf of people living with HIV/AIDS as well as people in recovery from addiction, working for over 25 years through an organization he founded, Preventing HIV Project. Through PHP (also known as GETUP!), he provided practical supports and HIV testing to thousands of Philadelphians at various sites throughout the city, including drug and alcohol treatment centers, homeless shelters, community groups, and for the last 15 years a storefront drop-in center on Kensington Avenue near Allegheny Avenue. At home, Rudy was an inveterate gamer, an accomplished cook, and a devoted father to his two Great Danes. A memorial is scheduled for 1pm-3pm on Sunday, June 30th , at the William Way LGBTQ Community Center, 1315 Spruce Street in Center City. Donations in Rudy’s name are encouraged to be made to the Lester Ross Memorial Fund, c/o SELF Inc., 1500 Walnut St., #300, Philadelphia, PA 19102. The Fund supports burial costs for unclaimed homeless Philadelphians who have passed.
