Rose Marie Reardon

March 18, 1934 — July 12, 2022

Downingtown

Rose Marie Reardon (née Thomas), 88, of Downingtown, PA formerly of Exton, PA passed away peacefully at home surrounded by loved ones on July 12, 2022.

Born in Quincy, MA in 1934, she was the daughter of the late Maroon and Catherine (née Owen) Thomas.

Rose was the only one of her siblings fortunate enough to graduate from high school. Since the age of 14, she worked hard to help support her family and had a tremendous gift of caring for children. When Rose and her husband, Bill, moved to Pennsylvania in 1981, she started her own professional cleaning business. She took great pride in taking care of her clients and treated them like family. She enjoyed teaching CCD classes in her home and always volunteered for her children’s school. Her time and attention carried on to her grandchildren. She especially enjoyed hosting tea parties and sleepovers for her youngest granddaughter, Lindsay.

Known for her amazing Lebanese cooking, Rose expressed her love for family and friends through her cooking. She was a natural caregiver and cherished time spent with family and friends. In addition to the love of her family, she was deeply rooted in her faith. She was an active member of Saints Philip and James Church in Exton, PA for more than 40 years. When she could no longer attend mass in person, she attended daily mass at home, virtually from churches around the world.

Rose loved going to the beach and was a big New England Sports fan. She looked forward to the days she would go shopping and out to lunch with her daughter, Marianne. During her final months, Rose lived with Marianne and her family and they spent many hours talking and spending quality time together. Rose discovered a love of bird watching with her Son-in-law, Andrew, got to see her Granddaughter, Lindsay, graduate from High School and taught Marianne how to cook Lebanese food. While they only lived together for a short time, they cherished every moment together. Living with and spending every day with her family is what made Rose feel most fulfilled.

Rose was the beloved wife of the late William J. Reardon; loving mother of Marianne Kaplan (Andrew), Judy Weir (Ed), and William J. Jr; devoted Mimi of Lindsay Kaplan; grandmother of Alicia Burkey, Ashley Burkey, Michael Burkey (Cheyenne); great-grandmother of Hannah Green and Hailey Green. Rose is also survived by her cherished Godchildren and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Rose was predeceased by her siblings; Mary Burke, Selma Thomas, Georgette Kohr, Peter Bosader, Sammy Thomas, Joey Thomas and George Thomas.

Relatives and friends are invited to her Viewing 10:00-11:00 AM Saturday, July 16, 2022 at SS Philip & James Church, 107 N. Ship Road, Exton, PA followed by her Funeral Mass 11:00 AM. Interment St. Agnes Cemetery.
