Rosalie Marie Cox (née Szczygiel) passed away peacefully on February 26, 2026, at the age of 77. Born in Philadelphia, PA, she was the daughter of the late Stanley F. and Rose Anne Szczygiel (née Crilley).

Rosalie was a devoted mother, grandmother, wife, daughter, and friend whose warmth, humor, and quiet strength touched everyone fortunate enough to know her. She had a natural gift for making people feel seen and cared for — whether through a thoughtful conversation, a perfectly timed witty remark, or the simple comfort of her presence. Her home was always welcoming, her advice steady, and her love unwavering.

Family was the center of Rosalie’s world. She lovingly cared for her parents and dedicated herself wholeheartedly to her daughters and grandchildren, offering constant encouragement, wisdom, and pride in all they pursued. As “GoGo,” she delighted in her three grandchildren — Aidan McGrath, Colin McGrath, and Livia Limongello.

Rosalie had a deep love for animals, big and small, and found peace and joy in tending her garden. She and her beloved husband, Dr. Malcom Cox, shared a spirit of adventure and curiosity, traveling the world together. Their partnership was one of deep love and respect.

Rosalie graduated at the top of her class from West Catholic Girls’ High School. She earned bachelor’s degrees from Gwynedd Mercy College and Philadelphia College of Textiles and Science, and later a Master of Business Administration from Temple University.

Rosalie built a distinguished career as a talented and passionate healthcare executive, serving many of Philadelphia’s leading healthcare institutions, including the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, Temple University Health System, Crozer-Keystone, and Kindred Hospitals. Among her proudest professional accomplishments was being part of the founding team that launched the PennSTAR Flight Program at the University of Pennsylvania Health System, the critical care air transport service that has since saved many lives across the region. She brought integrity, intelligence, and compassion to her work, always mindful of the human impact behind every decision.

She is survived by her two devoted daughters, Lisa McGrath (Sean) and Julia Limongello (Thomas), who will forever carry forward her strength, grace, and love.

Rosalie was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Dr. Malcom Cox.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Rosalie’s memory may be made to the Brandywine Valley SPCA or the African Wildlife Fund, honoring her lifelong love of animals.

A celebration of life is being planned for later this year.
