Ronald Harrison Darden, age 75, died at home on February 1, 2026 following a year long battle with pancreatic cancer. While his illness was prolonged, the timing of his passing was unexpected and he will be deeply missed.
Ron was born in Southhampton, NY, and raised in Watermill. He attended Southampton College where he earned his Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and Management and represented the college wrestling team at the National Championship.
Ron built a long and successful career in human resources, beginning at Johnson & Johnson and later moving to California to work for Mattel Toys. His discipline and drive in his professional life led him to complete his MBA at Golden Gate University. He later joined ConocoPhillips, a move that eventually brought him back to the East Coast in 2005.
An avid golfer for many years, Ron loved the game and played every Sunday while in California and continued to enjoy the game, though less frequently, once he returned to the east coast. He also showed his support of the boys and girls club through participation in various golf tournaments. A devoted Yankees and college wrestling fan he followed both closely and seldom missed a game or match. In day to day life, he was a familiar and well-loved regular at West Chester staples such as Duffers Tavern and DK Diner, where he enjoyed good food and good company.
Ron is survived by his beloved wife, Patricia Darden (née Kreitz), and his daughters, Kimberly Darden and Karen Darden. He is also survived by his brothers, Gordon Darden and John Darden. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harding Darden and Marion Darden (née Turner), and his brother, Harding Darden Jr. He is also survived by a wide circle of friends and extended family who will miss him deeply.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Ron’s memory to The Fund for the Abramson Cancer Center.
Relatives and friends are invited to his Visitation and Celebration of Life from 2:00-3:00 PM Saturday, February 7, 2026 at The Donohue Funeral Home, 1627 West Chester Pike, West Chester, PA 19382, 610-431-9000. Interment will be private. All are welcome to join the Darden family for a repast following the service at the Darden Residence.
